Police hunt items, connected to an alleged murder, that may have been dumped in bins

Police are calling on the public to look through their wheelie bins and check yards for items that may have been dumped after a man was killed.

Nike running shoes, a cooler bag and a pair of earphones may have been discarded across two suburbs following an alleged murder in Brisbane’s east, police say.

A man, 45, was found dead around midday on Wednesday at a residence in Ronald Street, Wynnum, some 15km east of the CBD.

On Saturday, police charged a 24-year-old Mount Gravatt man with his murder.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police are calling on the public to help them locate items, they claim, may have been discarded after Wednesday.

Detectives want Wynnum and Mount Gravatt residents to check their yards and rubbish bins for the cooler bag, runners and headphones.

The streets of most importance in the Wynnum and Wynnum North areas, include Ronald Street, West Ave, Stradbroke Ave, French Street, Bellew Street, Cameron Parade and all other streets within the vicinity.

Mount Gravatt residents in Creek Road, Logan Road, Gowrie Street, Gosford Street, Tenby Street and all other streets within this area are asked to be mindful of the items.

The items are:

• Pair of black running shoes, with white soles and a white ‘Nike’ motif on the side
• Pair of earphones with a white cord
• Green and white cooler bag, most likely ‘Woolworths’ brand
• Dark coloured baseball cap
• Pair of sunglasses with dark lenses and a light-coloured frame

Anyone finding the items is asked to contact police.
