A $4003 fine has been issued to the skipper onboard the luxury Lady Pamela yacht as police continue to probe how the construction magnate’s vessel cruised to Queensland.

Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski updated the police investigation into the vessel’s controversial voyage as he detailed law enforcement numbers along the border.

Law enforcement officials have been on alert after the 30m Italian-built Lady Pamela, owned by Melbourne property magnate Mark Simonds and now berthed on the Gold Coast, sailed into Queensland waters from Victoria.

The passengers are now reportedly staying in quarantine in the king suite of the QT Hotel at Surfers Paradise.

The Courier Mail reports the $4003 fine was issued for allegedly providing false information.

“What was clear is they were particularly persistent, did not take the appropriate advice and did not want to follow the rules,” MrGollschewski said on Thursday.

“It’s caused us significant resource usage to track them down.”

In other cases, Mr Gollschewski said two notices to appear were issued overnight, with a 51-year-old man allegedly sneaking through the Queensland border from a NSW hotspot.

Another young person will face court for allegedly decamping from a hospital while in quarantine.

It follows two new COVID-19 cases being confirmed in Queensland overnight.

Mr Gollschewski revealed the 51-year-old man had “snuck through the border” despite being refused entry three times.

“Do not do this, we will track you down and take action against you,” Mr Gollschewski said.

He said 73 domestic flights had flown into Queensland overnight. Of the 3170 passengers processed, Mr Gollschewski said eight were refused entry.

At the Queensland/NSW border, 188 people were refused entry.

Mr Gollschewski said only one person related to the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre cluster remained to be located.

“That person is within the Greater Brisbane area and we will locate them shortly,” he said.

“All have been cooperative and the testing is progressing without any issues.”
