One dead after two cars burst into flames following north Queensland crash
A person has died after two cars collided southeast of a major regional city, with both cars bursting into flames.
A person has died and two others have been taken to hospital in critical condition following a fiery crash in Queensland’s north.
The two-vehicle crash occurred after 1.30pm on Monday on Carty Rd and Goodsell Rd at Cape Cleveland – about 37km southeast of Townsville.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman told NCA NewsWire the cars collided and burst into flames.
She confirmed one person had died.

According to Queensland Ambulance Service, one patient suffered spinal injuries and was transported to Townsville University Hospital.
A second was flown to the hospital with abdominal injuries.
Both are in a critical condition, police confirmed.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident and has called for any dashcam footage or for any witnesses to come forward.
