A man has been missing for nine days, enduring subzero temperatures in a heavily wooded region of Queensland.

Luke Ferguson, 28, was last seen leaving a South Burnett property on foot just after midday on June 9.

A major search operation is underway as military personnel, SES volunteers and aerial technology is used to comb hundreds of square kilometres of a heavily wooded area in the hopes they will find Mr Ferguson alive.

Grave fears are held for his welfare due to a medical condition and the impact of multiple nights of subzero temperatures in the wilderness.
