Man, 25, killed in Queensland rodeo show on New Year’s Eve identified as Hue Mills.
There’s been an outpouring of grief for the 25yo man killed on Saturday night, after he was identified as a young father from NSW.
Supporters of a young man killed in a New Year’s Eve rodeo event in Queensland, have taken to social media to express their grief.
New South Wales man Hue Mills died after he fell and was struck by a bull shortly after 8pm on Saturday at an event in Warwick, south east Queensland.
The 25-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene, but died of his injuries in hospital.
He’s survived by his wife Jactina, and their young child.
Tributes on social media have been pouring in for Mr Mills and his family, with many commenting “RIP cowboy,” in reference to his rodeo work.
“Your entry fees are paid,” wrote one Facebook user. “Rest in paradise and ride high now young fella,” wrote another, with dozens more comments sharing similar sentiments.
Meanwhile, the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society Inc extended their “deepest condolences” to the friends and family of the young competitor in their own Facebook post.
“It is with great sadness that the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society Inc wishes to confirm the passing of a competitor in the Novice Bull Ride at our 2022 New Year’s Eve Rodeo,” the show wrote.
“The management committee of the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society Inc extends their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the competitor.”
They said they would be “passing the hat around” at the National Rodeo Association Inc. Junior Rodeo on Sunday as a means of financial assistance to the family, including funeral arrangements.
Queensland Ambulance told NCA Newswire paramedics had transported the man from the rodeo to Warwick Hospital with “serious” chest injuries on Saturday after arriving at the scene at 8.14pm.
