Authorities have released a list of new at-risk locations in Queensland after six new Covid cases were revealed to have been infectious while in the Gold Coast community.

The fresh cases were detected overnight, with four said to be locally acquired and two acquired interstate.

“Today is the day we’ve been planning for,” Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said.

“We can assume there is transmission happening across the Gold Coast.”

Health authorities urged residents to carry a face mask and wear it if they are unable to social distance.

A list of affected venues includes locations in Broadbeach, Mermaid Beach, Miami, Tugun, Elanora and Currumbin Waters on the Gold Coast.

Among them are shopping centres and supermarkets, gyms, a local souvenir shop and the Bunnings at Maroochydore.

Earlier on Friday, a school slammed its doors shut due to an infectious person on campus.

Broadbeach State School sent a message to parents on in the morning urging students to stay home, get tested and isolate.

“All will need to be tested today, we’re trying to set up a testing site at the school today. More information to follow,” a message to families read.

Meanwhile, Fuelhouse Bakery in Currumbin took to social media to share they had also been affected after an infected person visited the business on Thursday.

“Currumbin, we regret to inform that we have had a positive Covid case come through our doors yesterday morning,” a Facebook post read.

“We are taking all actions required which means we won’t be able to open our doors tomorrow as we are testing all our staff as directed.”
