Children critically injured in car crash near Brisbane

Two children have been critically injured after a car they were travelling in crashed into a power pole in an inner-city suburb.

Four children have been rushed to hospital, two with life threatening injuries, after a car they were travelling in crashed into a power pole.

Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Vincent Street in Auchenflower near Brisbane about 1.15pm on Friday.

A police spokesperson said when emergency services arrived, it appeared the young children were trapped in the car and power lines were down.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said two crews attended the crash and everyone was removed from the vehicle.

The spokesperson said the road was blocked by fallen powerlines which were later cleared by Energex.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said one child had abdominal and seat belt injuries, another child had head and seat belt injuries, and two other children who were in the vehicle were also taken to hospital.

The spokesperson said a man on the scene declined assessment by paramedics.
