Boy who lost mother in Sea World helicopter crash undergoes dramatic surgery

The young boy whose mother died in January’s horrific Sea World helicopter crash has undergone a major surgery.

The young boy who survived the harrowing Sea World helicopter crash which claimed the life of his mother has had his leg amputated.

Despite doctors being “happy with his progress”, 10-year-old Nicholas Tadros was required to have his right leg amputated below the knee as a result of injuries sustained in the horror crash.

The surgery, which took place on Monday, was a success.

Posting to Facebook on Monday evening, Nicholas’ church, St John the Beloved Church in Mt Druitt, NSW, updated its followers on his condition and asked for their thoughts and prayers.

“Nicholas Tadros has had his surgery and it went well,” the post read.

“Unfortunately, he has had to amputate his right leg from the knee down.

“Doctors are happy with his progress.

“All we ask is that everyone keep him in their prayers as he continues to recover.”

Nicholas’ father, Simon, revealed to The Courier-Mail on Saturday that Nicholas had already lost his right foot ahead of the scheduled leg amputation.

“Nicholas is being brave but is scared and nervous,” he said.

“I just ask everyone to pray for my son and that all goes well.”

Mr Tadros had previously spoken to A Current Affair about the horrifying extent of young Nicholas’ injuries, which included multiple broken bones as well as damage to his lungs.

Nicholas’ mother and Mr Tadros’ wife, Vanessa Tadros, as well as British couple Ron and Diane Hughes and pilot Ashley Jenkinson, all died in the crash on January 2.
