Body of missing man found in Brisbane River
The body of a missing man who slipped and fell into a river has been found after an extensive three-day search.
A three-day search has resulted in a body being pulled from the Brisbane River after a man fell in on Sunday morning.
Patrick Meafua’s body was located downstream within the search area about 8.30am on Tuesday.
Mr Meafua’s body was reported missing shortly before 5.40am on Sunday, March 6 after he fell into the water and failed to resurface.
Police were told Mr Meafua was at Jindalee Boat Ramp when he accidentally slipped.
“It’s just an unfortunate accident that he slipped, there is no indication that they were mucking around,” Acting Inspector Shane Thow said on Sunday.
He was attending a social gathering and members of the group jumped into the water in an attempt to save him.
“I know that a couple of his mates actually tried to help him, but he slipped below the waters before they got to him,” Inspector Thow said.
Mr Meafua could not swim and Inspector Thow said he could not speculate about whether alcohol was involved.
Friends and family were observed each day at the pontoon where Mr Meafua fell in.
