A group of masked men wearing black clothing and carrying Australian flags took to the streets of Ipswich on Saturday morning to “protest” the stabbing death of 70-year-old grandmother Vyleen White.

Photos posted to Reddit showed the men marching down the street, with some commenters suggesting they were “possibly neo-Nazis”.

“I’d call the cops — there’s a bit of tension in that area, with some hate directed at the Sudanese community at the moment after that grandmother was killed in the car jacking,” one commenter wrote.

Ms White was with her six-year-old granddaughter at the time she was allegedly stabbed in the underground carpark of an Ipswich shopping centre, west of Brisbane, on February 3.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with her murder.

Queensland Police said it was “aware of protest activity which occurred in Ipswich along Bell Street this morning”.

“Officers attended the intersection near Bremer Street just before 8.30am following reports a group of men, dressed in black, were protesting,” police said.

“The group left without incident a short time later. It is understood the protest was in relation to the death of a 70-year-old Redbank Plains woman on February 3.”

There were no arrests or charges laid.

Comments were quick to point out current tensions in the area.

“They are possibly neo-Nazis,” one commenter said.

“We were having issues with them in Sydney around Australia Day and the week after. Apparently a few flew in from Melbourne and combined with some local ones. Definitely call the police.”

One person claimed they were accosted by the group.

“I notified the police like two hours ago while I was walking, one idiot said, ‘Go home,’” they wrote.

“I was born and bred in this country and pay my taxes! I was too scared to say s**t back as there were a few of them.”

They said in another comment, “No one was hurt just my feelings tbh.”
