In a grim insight into the Brisbane property market, a granny flat in a leafy and sought-after suburb has been listed for an eye-watering $350-per-week.

The listing for the Coopers Camp Rd residence in Bardon in Brisbane’s west describes the residence as a “charming abode” that has been “freshly updated” and “the perfect place to call home”.

It also boasts about being a “short commute into the city” and “conveniently located close to shops, local parks and a short walk to public transport”.

It also lists its features as including a “spacious open play layout” and a “light-filled bathroom” and notes that water is included in the price of rent.

The listing is for a granny flat which sits next to a four-bedroom, three-bathroom property on the same block.

“Your new home will be positioned in an extremely sort (sic) after blue-chip street surrounded by beautiful homes, close to parks, playgrounds, walking and bike tracks,” the listing says.

“Bardon has a wonderful choice for local shopping, cafes and restaurants.”

However it drew the ire of some people online amid the cost-of-living crisis and surge in the rental market.

On Twitter, one user described it as a “shed” while another said it “looks a bit like a cubby house”.

“It’s just the bathroom and the one bed/kitchen/everything room isn’t it? No storage apart from kitchen cupboards. No wardrobe, comfy chair space,” another user wrote.

However not everyone was pessimistic about the price, with one person adding on Twitter: “This is actually nicer than most of the $350 pw apartments in Melbourne, including my own.”
