Man’s lucky escape as truck dangles over edge of Gold Coast bridge

A man has made a miraculous escape after his truck smashed into a bridge on the Gold Coast and was left dangling over the edge.

A driver has made a very lucky escape after his truck smashed into a barrier and began dangling off the edge of a bridge on the Gold Coast.

On Monday night about 11.43pm, a truck was travelling on Pimpama Jacobs Well Rd in Pimpana, a northern suburb of the Gold Coast, when it smashed into the barrier of a bridge.

The cab of the truck plunged into the river below as the back of the truck clung to the edge of the bridge, the tyres stopping the vehicle from completely submerging into the water.

The driver, a 46-year-old man, managed to escape the truck as it steered off the bridge and was treated by Queensland Ambulance at the scene, but reported only a minor injury to his finger.

The man declined to be transported to hospital.

“The bridge remains closed while engineers assess the damage,” a spokesperson for Queensland Police told NewsWire.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
