A MAN and a woman, who was holding a baby, have been stabbed during a home invasion overnight.
A MAN and a woman, who was holding a baby, have been stabbed during a home invasion northwest of Mackay overnight.
Police have established a crime scene after an intruder stabbed both occupants of a home on Sorensens Rd in Kuttabul after they found him in their backyard.
It is understood the 23-year-old male resident confronted the offender after hearing noise from the backyard at about 12.15am.
The man, who was armed with a knife, then stabbed him once in the torso before entering the home and confronting the 21-year-old woman inside, who was cradling a baby boy.
The offender stabbed her twice in the torso, causing her to drop the infant, police said.
When a teenage boy inside the home confronted the intruder, he ran off and the two adults and the baby were taken to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment.
Police confirmed the infant received minor injuries.
It is believed to be a random attack and investigations are continuing.
