A GOLD Coast man who was stabbed overnight was able to lead police to a man now charged over the attack after being found with a knife still protruding from his abdomen.

Police were called to a Currumbin Waters address about 11.30 last night, where they discovered a 30-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen.

The weapon, a knife, was still stuck in the man’s body, a police spokesman confirmed to news.com.au.

Before going into surgery to have the knife removed, the man was able to identify the man he believed attacked him, leading police to arrest a man “just down the road”.

A 24-year-old Varsity Lakes man has been charged with one count of wounding and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.

The victim was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
