Girl fighting for life after being hit by a car in Queensland

More details have been revealed after a 12-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with head injuries from being hit by a car.

A 12-year-old girl is fighting for life after she was struck by a vehicle in southern Queensland.

Police were called to Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd at Dundowran Beach in Hervey Bay about 12.15am on Saturday, following reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian.

The girl suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Hervey Bay Hospital in a critical condition.

She was then flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The road was closed for forensic and traffic officers to examine the scene.

The occupants of a Toyota HiAce believed to be involved in the crash, an 82-year-old man and 41-year-old man were not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
