A family has been torn apart after a father and his two children were killed in a horror crash in Queensland.
A father and his two children were killed in a horror crash in Queensland that has left a woman fighting for her life.
Police said that a 4WD collided with the rear of a sedan where two children were sitting in the back seat.
Officers were called to the nightmarish crash scene on the Dalby-Janowae Road outside Dalby at 10.50am on Monday.
Initial reports suggested that four people were “heavily” entrapped in one car.
Emergency crews said one child and their father died on impact while a teenager was removed from the car with an adult woman.
The teen sadly died at the scene while the woman was taken by air ambulance to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with critical arm, chest and abdominal injuries.
Dalby Patrol Group Inspector Greg Wheeler said the scene was “horrific”, the Courier Mail reports.
“Whenever there is children involved it is extra traumatic,” he said.
“At roughly 11am there was a two-vehicle traffic crash, as a result three people are now deceased and another is in critical condition in Brisbane
“A 4WD has collided with the rear of a sedan and the children were occupants were in the rear seat.”
The Dalby-Jandowae Rd was closed for several hours with a total of five ambulance units and a rescue helicopter attending the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was treated for back injuries and taken by road to Dalby Hospital.
Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the crash was tragic.
“Like any of these types of things, we will investigate that very thoroughly,” he said.
“But can I please remind everyone that we have a significant challenge with our road tolls this year.
“People on the road need to obey the rules of the road and drive to the conditions.”
