Two 18-year-old women have been charged after allegedly robbing a Gold Coast store at knifepoint.

Police allege the Benowa pair entered a store on Ashmore Road in Bundall about 8.35pm on Tuesday night before leaving.

A short time later, one of the women allegedly returned to the store and produced a knife, stealing goods while the other waited outside.

Police found the two women nearby and allegedly seized two small flick knives and drugs that include clonazepam and pseudoephedrine.

One of the women was charged with stealing, possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of controlled drug and possession of a knife.

The other 18-year-old was charged with armed robbery and stealing.

Both appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The charges came hours after police stopped a 31-year-old Yeronga man over a separate alleged armed robbery in Brisbane on Tuesday morning.

Police allege the man tapped on the window of a red Holden Commodore parked on TJ Doyle Memorial Drive in Dutton Park about 4am that day.

The man was allegedly carrying a firearm and demanded the car and keys from the owner, 54, who was sleeping in the back seat.

About 2pm, police saw the man driving the stolen car in Yeronga before he fled on foot.

Officers chased him down before the man was arrested at nearby railway tracks.

He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
