Police are “confident” they’ll find the remains of missing Queensland mum Tina Greer on a property in the Gold Coast hinterland after an eight year search.

Homicide Squad officers executed a search warrant on the Bonogin property this morning, thought to be connected to the suspected cold case murder of Ms Greer in 2012.

Ms Greer was last seen at a Beechmont Road home in the Gold Coast hinterland on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, after dropping her daughter at a friend’s place before heading west to visit her boyfriend, Les ‘Grumpy’ Sharman.

Her car was found on a dirt road near Governor’s Chair Lookout in the Scenic Rim region three days later. Despite extensive searches, the 32-year-old’s body has never been found.

Detective Inspector Damien Hansen told reporters this morning, however, that he was optimistic the search of the property – being conducted by State Emergency Service volunteers, police and cadaver dogs – would lead to closure for Ms Greer’s family.

“I’m very hopeful that we’ll locate it (Ms Greer’s remains) and I’m also very confident that we will be able to … prosecute people for this offence,” Insp Hansen said.

Insp Hansen revealed police believe the now deceased Mr Sharman – a “feared” man – had murdered Ms Greer elsewhere before bringing her body to the property with the assistance of others.

“We have conducted an extensive investigation and as such as preparing a report to the coroner in relation to Tina’s murder, we will be naming Les Sharman as our person of interest and we believe he has murdered Tina,” Insp Hansen said.

“I’m confident we know what happened and that will form part of our report to the coroner.

“I’m confident she didn’t die here.

“In relation to the search today, we received some credible information which has brought us to this property.

“We believe that Sharman has been assisted by persons in disposal of Tina’s body and the disposal of evidence linked to the murder.”

Mr Sharman was treated as a person of interest at the time of Ms Greer’s disappearance, but was never arrested and went on to die in a car crash in November 2018.

A reward of $250,000 was approved in January this year for information which leads to the apprehension and conviction of the person/s responsible for Ms Greer’s death.

Detective Inspector David Briese said in January that Mr Sharman’s death had not weakened the resolve of police to solve the case.

“It’s important that we find out who was responsible, not just for the likely murder but also for anyone who assisted during or after,” he said.

“We would like to find Tina, to give closure to her family and peace for Tina as well.

“There is always someone who knows something and in the right circumstances, find their conscience and divulge certain things to police, to bring the right people to justice.”
