Tiahleigh Palmer: Police seize vehicle of interest

DETECTIVES are inching towards an arrest in relation to the murder of Tiahleigh Palmer after seizing a crucial new clue.

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of 12-year-old Tiahleigh Palmer have seized a vehicle in what could be a breakthrough in the case.

But the current owner of the car is not a person of interest, with the car being sold in the 11 months since Tiahleigh’s remains were found at Pimpama.

Police this afternoon made the appeal for anyone who saw the blue 2009 model XR6 on Kerkin Road North, Pimpama, around October 30, to contact Crime Stoppers.

Tiahleigh’s body was found on the banks of the Pimpama River on November 5 last year.

Acting Regional Crime Coordinator Detective Superintendent Mark White said more than 20 detectives have been tasked to the case, which remains a top priority.

“This investigation is ongoing, we have not stopped since day one,” he said.

“Those investigations (into the car) are still ongoing and we are going to wait for forensic examinations to come back before we take any further steps.”

Det Sup White also said police had identified several persons of interest.

“There have been a number of persons of interest identified throughout the investigation and we will continue making inquiries into those particular people.”
