Three people arrested in joint investigation into death of Sabrina Bremer
DETECTIVES have arrested three people in connection with the death of a woman whose burning body was found on the side of a road this month.
DETECTIVES from NSW and Queensland have arrested three people in relation to the death of Waterford West woman, Sabrina Bremer.
Police released a statement on Wednesday afternoon, less than two weeks after the 34-year-old’s burning body was found propped against a tree on a remote, rural road.
The young mother of two was found by a passer-by at Dulguigan, 55 minutes from Byron Bay. She was 100km from her last known whereabouts.
Police said they had arrested a 38-year-old man from Wynnum, a 28-year-old man from Woodridge and a 27-year-old woman from Kingston.
Ms Bremer’s body was found by a man driving along Pollards Rd about 7.30am on August 18. He made the nightmarish discovery when he noticed what he thought was a burning log on the roadside and stopped to take a closer look.
Initial reports stating the body had been tied to a tree have been dismissed by police as gossip.
A team of about 50 detectives from the NSW Homicide Squad and Tweed-Byron State Crime Command formed Strike Force Faringdon to hunt down those responsible.
Ms Bremer’s 15-year-old daughter was the last to make contact with her. She spoke with her the day before she went missing. The following day, when she was unable to make contact, she reported her mother missing to police.
Tweed Heads crime manager Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen told news.com.au police were working to fill out a timeline of events leading to Ms Bremer’s disappearance.
“There’s a great void in the timeline of her disappearance that we need to fill in,” he said.
“We need people to come forward if they have seen her at any point between the Monday when she left the station and the Wednesday.”
He said police were “keeping an open mind” about the possibility Ms Bremer was killed by someone known to her, or a complete stranger.
CCTV footage captured a man appearing to dump Ms Bremer’s car, a white 2002 Toyota Camry, in Woodridge, in the Logan area.
The footage, obtained by Nine News, showed a man parking the car by the side of a road and walking away calmly with a drink in his hand.
Police removed the vehicle for forensic examination.
