Three charged over string of alleged armed robberies
Three people have been charged after they allegedly used firearms and knives to rob four fast food restaurants in 24 hours.
Three people have been charged with 81 offences following a string of alleged fast food armed robberies involving four McDonald’s and Hungry Jack’s restaurants across Ipswich and Brisbane.
Police will allege the trio was responsible for the armed robberies of a fast food outlet at Commercial Dr, Springfield about 9.30pm on January 15.
The group also then allegedly robbed three more fast food businesses between 9.15pm and 9.40pm in Rocklea, Salisbury and Algester on January 16.
The incidents allegedly involved multiple employees being threatened by the group, who were allegedly armed with a firearm and knives and stole cash.
Police executed simultaneous search warrants at Michael St, Ellen Grove and Swallow St, Inala, on January 22.
A 29-year-old Mansfield man has been charged with 10 counts of armed robbery, 16 counts of deprivation of liberty, four counts of enter premises to commit indictable offence, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of stealing, driving unregistered, driving while disqualified and using false registration plates.
An 18-year-old Ellen Grove woman was charged with 10 counts of armed robbery, 22 counts of deprivation of liberty, three counts of enter premises with intent and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 21-year-old Ellen Grove man was charged with one count of armed robbery, five counts of deprivation of liberty and one count each of attempted robbery and enter premises with intent.
Police also recovered from the Michael St address a bronze 1998 VT Commodore, alleged to have been used in connection with the alleged armed robberies.
The trio were denied police bail and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
Brisbane Regional Crime Co-ordinator Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said the arrests were the result of tireless collaboration between the Upper Mount Gravatt, Acacia Ridge and Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branches.
“Dozens of detectives have worked around the clock to bring this matter before the courts and their thoughts remain with the young alleged victims who continue to be offered support,” he Massingham said.
“I continue to appeal to the public to come forward with information which could assist police as investigations into these matters remain ongoing.
