Thieves caught on film ram-raiding a Woolworths store to steal drawers of cigarettes
Thieves allegedly netted thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes after an early morning ram-raid on a Woolies store.
CCTV footage has captured the moment three bandits conducted an early morning ram-raid on a Woolworths supermarket to steal thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes.
The thieves struck at 1.20am when they reversed a Volkswagen Tugan through the front entrance of a Woolworths in the upmarket inner Brisbane suburb of Hamilton, police said.
The video shows that once the vehicle smashed through the doors, two of the masked thieves charged the front counter and started ripping open locked drawers containing cartons of cigarettes.
The driver then joins his mates in ransacking and stealing drawers of cigarettes before trying to crack open the self-service checkouts.
The entire raid was captured on CCTV.
Police released footage of the ram-raid in the hope of someone identifying the trio.
Two of the thieves wore shorts and head coverings, while the third wore a pair of black pants, a black T-shirt, black beanie and a surgical face mask.
The Volkswagen Tugan was spotted in Hercules Street, heading east towards the Gateway Bridge, before later being found submerged at the Nudgee Waterhole just before 4am.
