Queensland Police investigate death of 47-year-old woman in Garbutt

Police are investigating the death of a woman after officers were called to a unit to perform a welfare check.

A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman’s body was found during a welfare check in far north Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Chandler St, Garbutt, in Townsville, to perform a welfare check about 1.45pm on Monday.

Queensland Police discovered the body of a 47-year-old woman at the home.

A crime scene was declared and homicide investigation into the circumstances of the death are continuing.
