Queensland Police declare PSPA in Nambour after suspicious substance found at police station

Several streets have been put into lock down after a suspicious substance was found at a police station, as emergency services race to identify what it is.

Several streets have been closed under an emergency declaration after a member of the public found a suspicious substance at a police station on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were alerted to the mysterious discovery at the Nambour Police Station along Currie St about 6am on Friday.

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in Nambour on Friday.

The PSPA was declared about 10am, with the exclusion zone encompassing Currie St, Arundel Ave, Daniels St and Mitchell St.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area, while anyone within the exclusion zone is urged to remain indoors until further notice.

Investigations are underway to identify the substance found.
