Queensland news: Truck driver ‘assaulted’ in alleged unprovoked road rage incident
THIS is the moment a motorist allegedly attacked a truck and assaulted the driver in an “unprovoked” road rage incident in southeast Queensland.
POLICE have released dashcam footage detailing how the alleged road rage incident against a tow truck driver in Caboolture unfolded.
The video shows the motorist lashing out at the front of the truck before throwing multiple punches at the driver through his window and kicking his side door.
The incident went for about two minutes and happened after both vehicles took the Caboolture exit north along the Bruce Highway and soon pulled over to the side of the road.
The footage, released by police in effort to track down the male motorist, shows the driver yelling out of his window before getting out of his car and throwing a running punch at the windscreen of the tow truck.
He then moves to the driver’s window where he appears to reach in and attempt to hit the tow-truck driver.
The pair then talk for about 20 seconds before the driver again leans away as a hand flies at his head.
Police alleged the man also kicked at the driver’s door multiple times.
After further conversation the motorist lashes out again, the driver putting his hands up to shield his head as his sunglasses are knocked off.
They continue talking before the motorist returns to his car and drives away.
The 48-year-old tow truck driver drove to Caboolture Police Station to report the incident and handed over the dashcam footage.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the man in the video to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through their website.
EARLIER: Driver ‘assaulted’ in road rage attack
THIS is the moment a motorist allegedly attacked a truck and assaulted the driver in an “unprovoked” road rage incident in southeast Queensland.
The unsavoury incident occurred in Caboolture, with the driver of the white vehicle allegedly turning it towards a Clayton’s Towing truck, cracking the windscreen, kicking the door and assaulting a staff member.
The altercation was captured on the truck’s dashcam video but, due to fears for the driver’s privacy and safety, it has only been sent to police.
In a post on its Facebook page calling for help with identifying the man in the pictures, Clayton’s Towing said it was “an unprovoked attack”.
“Our driver (was) simply driving behind the vehicle at a safe distance before being stopped,” the post said.
Sergeant Peter Thompson from the Caboolture Police station confirmed officers were investigating the incident.
He said the tow truck driver was following the driver of the white car off the Bruce Highway, before the tow truck was stopped on Lower King St.
Sgt Thompson said the man allegedly kicked in the door of the tow truck, climbed onto the cab and spat in the face of the driver.
He said police had received the footage of the attack.
Anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
