Queensland Police charge man after Amber Alert over six-week-old baby taken in Narangba
A six-week-old girl who was taken from a Queensland home following a violent disturbance has been found safe, and police say a man has now been charged over the incident.
A man has been charged with a number of domestic violence offences after allegedly attacking a woman north of Brisbane, before taking off with a six-week-old baby and sparking an Amber Alert on Friday.
Police allege the 34-year-old Mooloolaba man repeatedly assaulted a 33-year-old woman at an address in Narangba around 10am on Friday morning, threatening her with a knife and causing a large cut to her hand.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment after the man had allegedly fled the scene with the baby.
The man later attended Caboolture Hospital with the baby around 11.30pm on Friday night, a police spokesperson said.
The girl was uninjured and the man has now been charged with domestic violence offences including common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, threatening violence and wounding.
He’s been refused bail and will face Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday.
A Queensland Police spokesman said investigators had “exhausted all avenues” prior to issuing the Amber Alert.
“Investigators ensure all lines of inquiries are carried out and all avenues are exhausted, before resorting to an Amber Alert,” he said.
