Police uncover unique drug stash hiding spots as major Qld operation closes
Bodycam footage from Queensland police has revealed the creative locations drug stashes were seized from across the Sunshine Coast.
Dangerous drugs, large wads of cash and fireworks were discovered in creative locations by police on Sunday as a major drug operation in southeast Queensland came to a close.
Multiple search warrants were executed on properties across the Sunshine Coast at the weekend and have resulted in a 33-year-old man being hit with a string of drug trafficking and supply charges.
The police raids mark the end of Operation Ataboy, a six-month investigation into the trafficking and supply of methylamphetamines and marijuana in the Sunshine Coast.
Police allegedly located drugs at properties in Sippy Downs, Corbould Park, Forest Glen and Mountain Creek when they executed search warrants on Saturday.
They were allegedly found buried in garden beds, stashed in hidden compartments in walls and concealed in vehicles that police found in storage sheds.
Bodycam footage captures an officers using a battering ram to smash into one of the houses.
Three high-end luxury cars were seized along with $198,000 in cash, an electric conductive device, fireworks, ecstasy, liquid GHB, steroids and drug utensils.
About 1.45pm that afternoon, police were tipped off to a Sippy Downs man allegedly slumped at the wheel of his car on Honey Farm Road in Meridian Plains.
They conducted a random drug test on the 33-year-old and issued him with a notice to appear before taking him to the Maroochydore watch house.
He was denied bail and charged with 21 offences, including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of supplying dangerous drugs, five counts of possession of dangerous drugs, and one count each of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, unlawful possession of a category R weapon and possession of a relevant substance or thing.
He briefly appeared at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday before being remanded in custody.
