Police open homicide investigation after body in a house in Brisbane’s east
Police have opened a murder investigation after a man in his 40s who lived alone was found dead in a house east of Brisbane.
The discovery of a male body in a house in Brisbane’s east has triggered a murder investigation, with police calling for public assistance to help solve the crime.
The body was found in a residence in Ronald St, Wynnum, about 15km east of the CBD, around 12pm on Wednesday.
The deceased was aged in his 40s and lived alone, said Detective Inspector Steve Hollands in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
He said there were “no persons of interest” and that the man died sometime between 1am and midday.
“It does not appear that robbery was a motive,” Inspector Hollands said.
“Forensic examination will continue today and into tomorrow.
“Until we get further forensic examinations we won't be able to pinpoint the time.
“There was no indication at this stage as to whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.”
Inspector Hollands said another male discovered the body and called another person who then came over to the residence before police were contacted.
“A man discovered the body and contacted another member of his (own) family and they both inspected the address and found that the male was deceased,” he said.
“The male persons are associates. Friends (of the deceased).”
Inspector Hollands said it was too early to determine the cause of death and they had “items of interest” but would not elaborate.
He appealed to anyone who may have heard or seen anything that was out of place overnight in Ronald Street.
Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage in the area has been asked to contact police.
