Police launch investigation after five-month-old baby rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital

Police have launched an investigation after a five-month-old baby was rushed to hospital in critical condition on the Gold Coast.

Police are investigating how a five-month-old girl suffered critical internal injuries at a Gold Coast home.

Emergency services were called to a Coomera home after an unconscious baby girl seemed to be experiencing breathing difficulties and suffering cardiac arrest about 2:30pm on February 1.

The child had no obvious injuries.

She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Medical tests revealed the baby had significant internal injuries and she remains in a critical condition.

Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection and Investigation Unit have formed ‘Operation Victor Sector’ to investigate the cause of her injuries.
