One Nation Party’s national executive treasurer charged with fraud over election funding

A senior member of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party has been charged with fraud following raids on his home and the party’s office in Queensland.

One Nation’s national executive treasurer Alexander Jones was arrested on Wednesday morning following raids on a Brisbane home and the party’s office on Holt St, Eagle Farm.

A complaint from the Electoral Commission of Queensland in January led to the arrest of the 22-year-old financial administrator after detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command’s Finance and Cyber Crime Group investigated him.

Police allege Mr Jones submitted fraudulent documentation to a 2020 election funding application worth $24,000.

“Police will allege the man, a financial administrator for a political party, submitted fraudulent documentation relating to a 2020 election funding application for $24,000,” a police statement said.

Mr Jones was charged with two counts of utter forged documents, one count of fraud and one count of forgery.

He was given notice to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 4.
