Offender flees after shooting man in the head in brutal targeted attack

A 43-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with a head wound after being shot by a man still on the run.

Police are investigating after a vicious “targeted” shooting left a man with a gunshot wound to the head in North Queensland on Monday night.

Police and emergency services were called to a Fort St property in Maryborough just after 9pm to reports of gunshots and the discovery of the injured man.

The victim was transported to hospital with a life-threatening injury to his head.

The gunman is on the run, with police appealing to the public for any information that could assist with their investigation.

Police suspect it was a “targeted incident” and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
