The young girl was was allegedly abducted from a Maroochydore Child Safety Service Centre on Thursday and a state wide amber alert was issued.
Police allege the man took the young girl, who was known to him, from the Beach Road facility on December 19.
The man and the girl were found “safe and well” at a Eerwah Vale property about 6pm that same day.
Footage has captured the moment the girl was led by police into a car following the alleged abduction.
“The girl’s safe...probably highly traumatised,” someone can be heard saying in the footage from 7NEWS.
The 44-year-old Coolum Beach man was charged with one count each of child stealing and trespass — unlawfully enter or remain in dwelling or yard.
He was set to front the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
A resident of the Eerwah Vale property told 7NEWS he wasn’t sure how the man and little girl wound up on his property.
“The fact that it ended with no one getting hurt was the best of a bad situation I suppose,” he told 7NEWS.
“Pure coincidence they ended up on our property for some reason, we don’t know. :
Detective Acting Inspector Scott Wiggins told reporters on Thursday afternoon that the amber alert was necessitated by police intelligence “suggesting the child may be at risk of harm”.
