Man charged with murder after woman stabbed to death in Qld
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found stabbed to death in a Townsville apartment in the early hours of this morning.
A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 49-year-old woman in Queensland during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to a home on Granville St in Pimlico, Townsville, at about 1am after receiving reports a woman had been stabbed.
When officers arrived they found the woman with fatal stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A crime scene has been established and a 40-year-old Mount Isa man was taken into custody.
He has been charged with one count of murder and is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on February 24.
Police will allege the killing was a domestic violence related incident, however the relationship between the man and woman has not been confirmed.
Neighbours told the ABC they heard residents inside the apartment block yelling at each other, prompting them to call the police.
