Man charged with grievous bodily harm and torture of children in Brisbane
A Brisbane man will face court on serious assault and torture charges after three children were found with injuries in his home.
A man has been charged with 14 offences, including grievous bodily harm and torture, after three injured children were found in a property in Brisbane’s south.
Emergency services were called to a Wishart address about 9:30pm on Sunday following reports that a five-year-old boy needed medical assistance.
Police say the boy was found with “significant injuries” and was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Police allege two other children, a 6-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy, were discovered also suffering injuries in the garage of the property.
They were transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital for “extensive non-life threatening injuries”.
Officers arrested a 29-year-old man who is known to the children and declared the home a crime scene.
He was charged with seven counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (DV), three counts of torture (DV), three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed (DV) and one count of grievous bodily harm (DV).
He was refused bail to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 23.
