Man charged after 12-year-old girl allegedly ‘grabbed’ in coastal suburb

Police have charged a 21-year-old man after he allegedly grabbed a 12-year-old girl walking on a path.

A man has been arrested after he allegedly “grabbed” a 12-year-old girl walking on a path in Queensland.

The girl was walking on a pedestrian path in the coastal suburb of Coolangatta just before 9am on Thursday when an unknown man allegedly grabbed her around the shoulders.

Queensland Police said the man released the girl before running away.

The young girl received some bruising as a result of the alleged incident.

Police patrolled the area and less than an hour later found a 21-year-old man in Kirra.

The Tweed Heads West man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He will face Coolangatta Magistrates Court on January 12.

“Investigations remain ongoing,” police said.
