Man allegedly forced woman at knifepoint to drive away as he hid in boot
Dramatic footage shows the moment police surrounded a shirtless man who allegedly threatened a woman at knifepoint to drive him away while he hid in the boot.
Police have charged a man with deprivation of liberty offences after he allegedly kidnapped a woman at knifepoint and forced her to drive him away in the boot of her car west of Brisbane on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Kallangur man was found hiding in the boot of a white BMW at Augustine Heights after a 17-year-old boy alerted police.
Officers were first called to Conlan Court about 6.30am following reports a man was “acting suspiciously” and trespassing on a number of properties.
A 17-year-old boy at one of the homes alerted police the man had forced his way into the home and threatened and kidnapped a 45-year-old woman.
She was allegedly forced at knifepoint to drive away from the property while the Kallangur man hid in the boot.
Based on the boy’s description of the vehicle, officers pulled it over outside the Springfield Police Station, where they found the man hiding inside.
Dramatic footage shows the moment officers move toward the back of the car, yelling “armed police, do not move while we open the boot”, before he is handcuffed and taken to a nearby police wagon.
The woman sustained a leg injury, but the boy was unhurt.
Police charged the man with deprivation of liberty, burglary with violence, armed robbery, and assault occasioning bodily harm and is expected to front court on Thursday.
