Man, 22, charged with murder of missing childcare worker Samuel Thompson

POLICE have charged a 23-year-old man with the murder of missing Brisbane childcare worker Samuel Thompson.

Samuel Thompson has been missing since March 7. His distinctive orange Mustang, with registration SAMMO, was found abandoned in NSW two days later.

POLICE have charged a 23-year-old man with the murder of missing Brisbane childcare worker Samuel Thompson.

Mr Thompson, 22, has been missing since he left his home in Brisbane’s inner north on March 7.

Police last week released CCTV footage showing a white Chrysler 300 sedan tailing his distinctive orange Mustang with registration SAMMO at Deep Water, Bald Hills that day.

The car remained at Deep Water Bend until midnight that day but was found abandoned over the border in NSW on March 9.

Mr Thompson has not been seen or heard from since leaving his apartment.

On Thursday, police confirmed a 23-year-old man, also from Brisbane, was charged with his murder and interfering with his corpse.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

Mr Thompson’s body has not yet been found.

The charge comes a day after police seized a car suspected to be the white Chrysler in the CCTV footage from a Bald Hills home.

The home was declared a crime scene while authorities also searched a nearby tip.

The 22-year-old’s parents reported him missing earlier this month.

He was the victim of an unsolved robbery in Brisbane last September, in which his car was stolen.

Police suspected early on he met with foul play and also investigated whether his disappearance was linked to the earlier crime.
