Horror discovery in Gold Coast home after girl, 10, found dead with throat slashed

A major police investigation is underway after the body of a 10-year-old girl was discovered in a home.

A young girl has been found dead in a Gold Coast home with her throat slashed.

Emergency services were called to a property on Central Pl at Emerald Lakes, Carrara shortly after 6pm on Tuesday.

The girl, 10, was found unresponsive and deceased at the address, Queensland Police said in a statement.

It is understood her throat had been slashed.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations into the circumstances is underway.

Nearby residents said they have been told by police to “go back inside” their homes.

The street has reportedly been blocked off by police and a gazebo erected outside the home.

Video footage captured outside the home and shared to social media shows multiple paramedics and police vehicles outside the property, with red and blue lights flashing down the street.
