Video: Doctor accused of supplying prescription drugs to bikie gangs after Brisbane raid

Suburban Brisbane doctor on trafficking charges after being accused of supplying bikie gangs with prescription drugs including valium.

Police charge doctor over illegal drug trafficking

A Brisbane GP has been charged with supplying prescription drugs to multiple bikie gangs as part of an investigation that resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash being found.

Police raided several premises including two Brisbane medical practices where steroids, prescription drugs and more than $300,000 in cash were seized.

The police video shows the cash being taken in large wads from a wall safe while boxes of prescription drugs, Tramal, Stilnox and Valium were seized.

The 52-year-old doctor has been charged with trafficking and supply of restricted medications and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Larissa Miller alleged the drugs were sold in the community and were directly supplied without prescription to OMCG members for profit.

She said he was the only doctor suspected at the two medical practices, located in Fortitude Valley and Chermside, alleged to be supplying drugs to bikies for cash.

“As far as we have identified, he is the only medical practitioner involved,” Insp Miller said.

“We will allege that this doctor acted as a profession facilitator, selling these drugs directly to OMCG members for them to on-sell and make a profit.

“At the moment we have identified that there’s more than one gang involved.”

She said the street value for prescription drugs was 10 to 20 times what they cost across the counter.

It was the first time the doctor had come to their attention and “it's an incredibly serious breach” of the trust society has in doctors.
