Dashcam footage captures man’s dramatic attempt to dodge police in Qld carpark
Dramatic footage has captured a man’s alleged rampage in a Queensland shopping centre with a stolen car as he attempts to avoid police.
Dramatic dashcam footage has captured the moment a man allegedly driving a stolen car smashes into unsuspecting drivers in a desperate bid to escape the law.
Police have confirmed a 22-year-old has been charged over the alleged incident, which unfolded at a Morayfield shopping centre centre carpark about 10am on January 11.
The footage, originally posted to the popular Facebook page dashcam Owners Australia, depicts the Audi driver waiting behind another vehicle before an officer sprints into view.
After noticing police on his tail, the driver turns and slams into the side of the vehicle in front.
As officers attempt to open the door, he reverses and smashes into another car behind him.
He narrowly misses the car capturing the dashcam footage as he speeds off from waiting officers.
The female driver is heard saying “oh no” on film as the Audi speeds away.
Officers arrested the man shortly after.
A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the 22-year-old had been charged with a raft of offences, including burglary, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, fail to comply with duties involved in a crash, possession of a dangerous drug, receiving tainted property and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from the Maleny area on January 10.
He will reappear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on February 22.
