Daniel Morcombe’s killer Brett Peter Cowan attacked

THE man serving life in prison for the murder of schoolboy Daniel Morcombe has again been attacked in jail.

DANIEL Morcombe’s killer Brett Peter Cowan was attacked again in jail this morning, apparently stabbed in the neck and ear.

The 48-year-old was attacked in Wolston prison, with authorities confirming he had sustained minor injuries.

It’s believed he is already back in his usual prison unit.

Cowan suffered superficial wounds to his neck and ear when a fellow prisoner attacked him with an “improvised implement”, Queensland Corrective Services said.

“A prisoner suffered superficial wounds to his neck and ear when he was assaulted by another prisoner in a common area of ... Wolston Correctional Centre on Friday,” Corrective Services said in a statement.

“The prisoner did not sustain any serious injury.

“Queensland Corrective Services officers brought the situation quickly under control. No officers were injured..”

“There was no blood,” a Queensland Corrective Services spokesman told the Daily Mail.

It is not the first time Cowan had been the target of an attack behind bars.

In August 2016, he was scalded with boiling water when fellow inmate Adam Paul Davidson tipped a bucket over him while he was playing cards.

Queensland Police Corrective Services Investigation Unit is investigating this morning’s attack.

Any change to Cowan’s security arrangements in jail will depend on the outcome of a police investigation.

Cowan is among Australia’s most loathed criminals. Just before Christmas in 2003, he abducted Daniel from a Sunshine Coast bus stop, took him to a secluded spot and choked him to death when he tried to escape.

Daniel had been on his way to the shops to buy presents for his family. After Cowan was scalded with boiling water in 2016, the inmate who did it explained how he had carefully planned the attack.

Adam Paul Davidson admitted watching Cowan’s movements for a month to find the best way to harm him.

He expressed no remorse, telling investigators: “He had it coming, he’s a f***king grub.”

He was handed a three-year jail term for the attack.
