Brisbane teacher charged with child porn offences after raid
A BRISBANE schoolteacher has been charged with child porn offences after his computer was seized in a raid on his home.
A BRISBANE schoolteacher has been charged with child porn offences after a raid on his home allegedly uncovered explicit images on his computer.
The 54-year-old, a resident of Tingalpa in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs, has been charged with three child exploitation offences and bailed to appear in court in October.
In a statement, Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission, an investigatory body independent from the state’s police force, said the man was arrested after a covert operation.
It will allege the man had multiple still images and video files on a computer seized when his home was raided on Monday night.
It will further allege he used “peer-to-peer computer software” to access and share the material with others.
The body has not, however, alleged the man has abused any of the children in his care, as a result of his career.
“The CCC’s investigation has not identified any offences related to his employment as a schoolteacher or offending against children under his supervision,” the statement read.
The computer will undergo forensic testing before the case returns to court.
The teacher has been charged with three child exploitation offences, including child pornography possession, using a carriage service to access child pornography and using a carriage service to share child pornography.
He was bailed and is scheduled to appear before the Wynnum Magistrates Court on October 10, 2016.
The CCC said Education Queensland had been advised of the charges.
