Police find missing teen Tea Wright-Finger’s 4WD

A woman’s body has been found in bushland in outback Queensland during the search for a teenager who vanished over a month ago.

The body is believed to be 19-year-old Tea Wright-Finger, who has been missing since October 16.

Police are treating the death as non-suspicious and will prepare a report for the coroner.

Around 10.30am on Thursday, search crews located the body 600m from a blue Toyota Prado near Richmond, about 500km west of Townsville.

The car was first spotted on Wednesday morning by a mustering helicopter.

Police said in a statement they had spoken to Ms Wright-Finger’s family and extended their condolences.

“Investigators would like to thank the State Emergency Service (SES), local property owners and the community for their assistance and information provided during the search for Tea,” a police spokesman said.

Ms Wright-Finger was last seen at 3pm on October 16 when a friend dropped her near the 4WD she had been driving in Richmond.

She was reported missing two days later. A land and air search was then launched.

The young woman posted a concerning video on TikTok two weeks before her disappearance, saying “I don’t feel so good, I want to go home” about her time on a cattle station.

Queensland Police have said that her social media presence is in the scope of their inquiry.

Police revealed on October 27 that the Blue Toyota Prado was allegedly reported stolen from Proserpine – 700km away – on October 14, two days before Ms Wright-Finger’s disappearance.

After days of challenging conditions with no promise of finding her, rescuers scaled back the search.

On November 16, police launched a new appeal, releasing CCTV footage of the last time Ms Wright-Finger was seen at a Richmond service station.
