Woman accused of stabbing baby girl in chest in Ripley, Ipswitch

Police have accused a woman of attempting to kill a baby girl she lives with, after the infant was allegedly found with a “stab wound”.

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after an infant was allegedly found with “critical” injuries in Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a Ripley address in Ipswich just after 5.30am on Saturday following an incident involving a three-month-old baby girl.

According to the Queensland Police Service, officers immediately began first aid before paramedics arrived.

The child was taken to hospital in a critical condition with “what appears to be a stab wound to the abdomen”.

A woman's, who lives at the property with the child, was arrested and was “assisting police with their enquiries”.

Hours later, police announced on Saturday afternoon she had been charged with with attempted murder.

A QPS spokesman said the investigation remains ongoing, as officers pour over the home.

The woman is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
