A woman has been charged after allegedly attempting to stab her daughter to death in central Queensland.

The woman, aged in her 30s, has been accused of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her teenage daughter several times in the chest at a remote property in Dysart at around 4pm on Monday afternoon.

The teenager remains in a critical but stable condition.

A 20-year-old man, who was at the property at the time of the incident, is reported to have attempted to stop the alleged attack.

“He actually intervened in the incident and he was assaulted by the suspect,” Acting Inspector Emma Novosel said on Tuesday.

“I believe he’s an associate of the victim.”

The accused woman was taken to Dysart hospital with minor injuries, which police believe to be self-inflicted.

While at the hospital, she is further alleged to have assaulted a police officer.

She is due to appear at the Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where she will face multiple charges, including attempted murder, common assault and serious assault of a police officer.

The police officer did not sustain any physical injuries from the alleged assault.

Investigations are ongoing.
