Woman who allegedly snatched child from Qld home accused of robbery, stealing car
A woman charged with snatching a toddler from his Queensland home is also accused of other crimes, police allege.
The alleged crimes a woman accused of child stealing carried out before she allegedly kidnapped a toddler from his home have been revealed in court documents.
The woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – did not appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court when her matter was briefly mentioned on Monday.
Police allege in court documents the woman, 25, was involved in a robbery before stealing a car in the days prior to an amber (child abduction) alert being issued.
It is alleged the woman robbed another person in Browns Plains on June 30.
It is alleged on the same day the amber alert was issued, the woman stole a car from a Dutton Park address before making her way to an address in Darling Heights, near Toowoomba, on July 15.
There, the woman is alleged to have broken into the house and forcibly taken the toddler about noon.
The alleged incident sparked an amber alert as police scoured the streets for the young child.
At the time, officers believed the child was at “significant risk”.
He was located safe and well at 10pm that same night in Logan.
The woman is facing six charges, including child stealing, robbery, burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
On Monday, no application for bail was made as the woman’s matter was adjourned to September 15.
