A Gold Coast woman who allegedly caused a three-car pile up while more than five times over the legal alcohol limit has had her case mentioned in court.

Michelle Rice fronted Southport Magistrates Court on Monday charged with one count of driving under the influence.

It’s alleged the 49-year-old blew 0.276 when she was detained at a Southport service station after 4pm on February 16.

Police allege that between 4.20pm and 4.55pm Rice was involved in a three vehicle rear-end crash before her car crossed the median strip and struck another vehicle.

The woman had been filmed earlier in the afternoon drinking from a wine bottle while behind the wheel of her car.

The video was shared online by Instagram user by Sam Mangan.

Mr Mangan told 9 News Gold Coast at the time he couldn’t believe what he had seen.

“She actually pulled out a full bottle of wine, sat back and drank the entire bottle in one go,” he said.

Ms Rice told Magistrate Gary Finger she needed to seek legal advice about the charge and the matter was adjourned.

She will next appear in court on March 29.
