The foster brother of murdered schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer has attended court over an offence allegedly committed days after her inquest.

The foster brother of murdered schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer has avoided appearing before a magistrate on a fresh burglary charge alleged to have been committed just days after an inquest into his foster sister’s death wrapped up.

Trent Jordan Thorburn, the son of child killer Rick Thorburn, was charged with enter premises with intent earlier this month, over an alleged burglary in Brisbane’s south.

Despite briefly appearing at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, he had his matter adjourned without appearing before a magistrate.

Police allege Mr Thorburn, 24, and a group of teenagers broke into the 4WD Supacentre at Parkinson on June 25, stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of camping gear.

Mr Thorburn, dressed in a white jumper and grey cap, briefly attended court on Wednesday where he waited in the lobby for his lawyer.

His matter was not brought up in court and was instead administratively adjourned to a date next month.

Mr Thorburn was seen leaving court and driving away shortly after 9.45am.

He will return to court on August 25.

The court proceedings come just weeks after he gave evidence at a coronial inquest into Tiahleigh’s death in 2015.

Deputy state coroner Jane Bentley found Mr Thorburn’s father Rick had deliberately killed the 12-year-old on October 30, 2015 and may have done so to protect his son.
