A man charged with the manslaughter of his 11-year-old son after he was bitten by a snake on a rural Queensland property has had his charge dropped.

The major development in the case against Kerrod James Frahm, 31, follows a magistrate ordering him to stand trial for the unlawful killing of his son Tristian back in November 2021.

Tristian died after being bitten by a snake while the family were staying with friends in Murgon, in Queensland’s South Burnett region.

In late 2022 police announced they had charged Mr Frahm with manslaughter following a 12-month investigation.

But a spokeswoman from the Department of Justice on Wednesday confirmed the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had discontinued the charge against Mr Frahm.

An indictment was not presented to Brisbane Supreme Court.

“The DPP notified the Supreme Court Registry that it sought to discontinue the matter,” the spokeswoman said.

“The matter was declared ‘no true bill’ (nolle prosequi) by the Registrar on April 12, 2024.”

Police had alleged Mr Frahm had failed to seek medical attention for his child after he was bitten.
