Police have charged a 27-year-old man with murder following the death of his 23-year-old ex-partner who police allege was mowed down by his new girlfriend.

Kiesha Thompson had just dropped her daughter off at daycare and was walking on a footpath on Allamanda Dr in the Logan suburb of Daisy Hill, 24km south of Brisbane, when she was allegedly deliberately struck by a silver Toyota Prado about 9am on Friday.

She was rushed to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but died in hospital hours later.

Queensland Police later charged Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, 24, with murder (domestic violence), alleging she was driving the car that struck Ms Thompson and then fled the scene.

Police have also since charged Tyler Scott William James, 27, with murder (domestic violence) on Monday.

It will be alleged in court both the Acacia Ridge man and Ms Sant knew Ms Thompson.

Detective Inspector Chris Knight said Mr James had previously been in a relationship with Ms Thompson but that it ended “some months prior” to her alleged murder.

Mr James and Ms Sant were in a relationship at thr time of Ms Thompson’s death.

Detective Inspector Knight said police will allege while Mr James wasn’t in the car that struck Ms Thompson, he was allegedly involved in the “planning and preparation” ahead of the traffic incident.

“We believe he was involved in actions other than driving the car,” Detective Inspector Knight said.

Police allege Ms Sant was driving and was the only person in the Silver Prado at the time.

Mr James had his matter briefly mentioned for the first time in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Magistrate Julian Noud adjourned the matter to Beenleigh Magistrates Court, where it will link up with Ms Sant’s next appearance on July 31.

Mr James and Ms Sant each remain in custody on remand.

Neither has made an application for bail, and can only do so in the Supreme Court while charged with murder.

Outside of court, Detective Inspector Knight said the allegations police are investigating are “inexplicable”.

“I’ve been an investigator for more than 30 years … there are features we’ve identified in this investigation that will stay with me,” he said.

“It’s a horrendous crime.

“The impact this will have on (Kiesha’s) family is tremendous.

“While the arrests we’ve made over the last few days are important to the investigation... we don’t lose sight that it doesn’t change a great deal in their eyes, they’re still without their loved one.

“That’s the tragedy in this. It’s an investigation at this stage but it doesn’t bring Kiesha back.”

Police had seized a silver Prado in Goodna, a suburb of Ipswich, on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Knight said police were investigating whether the vehicle belonged to Mr James or Ms Sant.

Meanwhile, Ms Thompson’s brother, Koby Torto, said their family would rally around his niece following the death of her mother.

“My sister Kiesha had nothing short of a difficult life, but in the past couple years she worked tirelessly to create the best life for not only her but her child, who is the absolute light of her life,” Mr Torto said.

“Her life up to the end was exactly what she wanted but as all good things come, so do bad and she was taken from us.

“I cannot stress enough that her daughter was the absolute light of her life and we’re here to support her throughout her whole life.”

Police are continuing to appeal for information, including anyone with dashcam vision, who were travelling in the Daisy Hill area near Allamanda Dr between 5am and 10am on July 19, as well as July 17.

Detective Inspector Night thanked the community for their “quite remarkable” response to providing information to police.

“We’ve reached some milestones as a direct consequence of people contacting Crimestoppers,” he said.

“Call investigators (with) anything you have whether it’s an opinion or observation.

“Something you may think is inconsequential, please allow that to be considered and investigated by people who know the scope of the investigation.”

Police will be at Allamand Dr on Wednesday from 7.30am and urge anyone to speak to officers if they have any information.
